Who are America’s best hopes of winning the 2026 IFMAR 1/8 Nitro Buggy World Championship in Texas? 🇺🇸🏆
In this episode of Lefty’s Simple Thoughts, I break down the American drivers who could challenge defending World Champion Davide Ongaro at Thornhill Racing Circuit.
Dakotah Phend leads my list, but Seth VanDalen, Mason Fuller, Ryan Maifield, Spencer Rivkin, Phi-Long Nguyen, Brandon Rose and several dark horses could all make some noise. I also look at the young guns, experienced veterans and Canada’s biggest hope, Douglas Shewfelt.
These are simply my thoughts and opinions based on recent results, current form and what I’ve seen while traveling to races. I could be right, I could be completely wrong—but we’re about to find out!
The NNRC crew will be at Thornhill bringing you coverage, interviews, behind-the-scenes stories and plenty of RC racing talk throughout Worlds week.
