Ruddog RP540 sensored brushless motor

Ruddog's 540 brushless has been the quiet workhorse of stock class for three years. We ran it for a full season to see if the quiet reputation still holds.

Pros

  • Cheaper than comparable Tekin/Trinity options by 20%
  • Sensor board is replaceable without sending the motor back to the factory
  • Runs cool — we never saw over 160°F in a five-minute qualifier
  • Consistent torque curve, no dead spots

Cons

  • Bearings are merely adequate — upgrade them if you race more than once a month
  • Wire quality is cheap. They hold up, but they look cheap
  • Peak power is 3–5% below the class leaders

Verdict

For the club racer, this is the motor to buy. For the national-series contender, the 3–5% matters and you'll want to spend the extra. That's not a dig at Ruddog — it's just what stock class is in 2026.
