Most of the ESCs on the grid this weekend were built in a 4,000 square foot workshop in Santa Ana. We spent a day there.

You walk in and the first thing you notice is how quiet it is. Four racks of soldering stations, two QA benches, a single high-speed PnP machine along the east wall. The hum of fans. Not the chaos you expect from the people who make the gear that powers half the national series.

The founder walks us through. Each ESC gets a three-stage test — bench-current profile, thermal soak, then a live-load spin-up against a reference motor. The rejection rate is higher than most consumer electronics companies would tolerate. That's the point, he says. The ones that leave the shop leave ready.

There's a wall in the back corner with photos of every national champion who's won on a Tekin ESC. It goes back to 2004. You can see the shift — the first years are black-and-white-ish club photos; the recent ones look like car-company ad shoots. The sport professionalized. Tekin professionalized with it.

If you've ever wondered why the support emails get answered, it's the same reason the ESCs work. The people making them are two rooms away from the people answering the emails. Nothing scales like proximity.
